BoortmaltX is a corporate venturing unit that partners with startups to find new applications of the malting process. Its strategic direction is fuelled by the Boortmalt Innovation Compass, created to identify high-potential value spaces, ripe for exploration.
An in-depth analysis of Boortmalt’s existing assets and corporate strategy aimed at shaping the venture unit’s mission. Based on the insights, we prioritised seven new value spaces, a framework for partnerships and onboarded internal stakeholders.

Each new value space was delivered as a report – market trends, growth potential, and hero cases. Insights on how Boortmalt’s strategy and existing assets could be leveraged in each space, along with possible business models, revenue opportunities, and cost streams.

Venture unit design

BoortmaltX is an asset-driven accelerator and adjusts its support based on the strategic needs of the incoming startup – technology, funding, market access, talent, and more.

Partnership development

Partners were prioritised, and assessment decks were created outlining vertical integration possibilities within specific value spaces and critical assumptions to be solved moving forward. Four major opportunities: BoortmaltX recruitment, direct R&D support, venture client model, and existing scaleup engagements.
